Student Council
Welcome to the Student Council Page. It is the student council’s aim to act on behalf of all the students in Kildare Town Community School, creating a better, more student-friendly school environment.
One representatives are elected from each class group from 1st to 6th year. Their role involves planning events that contribute to school spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. They help share student ideas, interests and concerns with the school wide community. We are always open to suggestions however big or small.
We have a suggestion box that students can input their ideas and it is checked weekly. Anyone is more than welcome to come to their student council with their ideas at any time. We are always willing to help anyone whenever it is needed.
Senior Prefects
In Kildare Town Community School we currently have 8 senior prefects. Any member of 6th year can nominate him or herself as senior prefect. A list is drawn up and the staff is then consulted who would be the best suited to the role. A head boy and head girl is decided upon by management.
Role of Senior Prefect:
They are a member of the school community who as an individual takes on a role of responsibility both in and out of class with regard to school rules, behaviour, punctuality and uniform. It benefits the student as it gives them an opportunity to work on their own initiative while developing leadership and teamwork skills.
Head Boy/Girl:
As well as 8 senior prefects, there is a head boy and girl appointed by school management. They are responsible to represent the study body on behalf of the school including events such as open days, parent/teacher meetings and guest visits. They are also responsible for making public speeches at various school events. They should be easily approachable by students and act as a link between the students and board of management. They are expected to lead the prefects in their duties and approach for advice, thoughts and opinions on school related matters. It is a crucial role in ensuring the students voice is heard and is executed by diligent and committed students.
