Maynooth University Talk
On the 5th of November Shiela Purcell from the Admissions Office in Maynooth University gave a presentation to our 6th year students. Sixty 6th years showed up and listened to all of Shiela’s interesting information on the courses and facilities in Maynooth University. She outlined information such as the Arts degree where there is a choice of 34 subjects in which you have the first 4 weeks to decide what 2-4 subjects you want to study. The points required are 320 as of now. There are many other degrees such as Law, Business, Finance and Science.
Another worthwhile piece of information for anyone wanting to study Engineering is that you are required to get a H4 in Maths but, Maynooth offers a special Maths test a week after the Leaving Certificate exam for anyone who didn’t achieve their H4 yet wants to study Engineering.
There are many clubs & societies in Maynooth to suit absolutely everyone! They offer scholarships and multiple support centres to help anyone attending the university. The Open Days are on the 23rd and 24th of November. Shiela advises any sixth years seriously considering Maynooth to go on the 24th as the 23rd will be extremely busy with busloads of school students arriving to explore the university.
