The KTCS Art Scholarship Award was put in place last year in memory of the local artist Gill Berry. With the help of Siobhán Conway and Kevin O’Kelly from the Gill Berry Trust Group, Lucina Russell the Kildare Arts Officer, Celine Broghal from the Kildare Town Library and our Board of Management we secured a scholarship award of €1,000 along with a days workshop with the visual artist Vera McEvoy for the deserving winner.
On Friday the 29th of April last Niamh Jane Kelly was presented with the KTCS Art Scholarship Award in recognition of her artistic accomplishments throughout her time in KTCS. Last summer Niamh got the opportunity to work with Vera McEvoy in her workshop designing and making her glass trophy for this award. Niamh has spent the last year undertaking a PLC course in preparation for the study of Animation in Ballyfermot this coming September.
This award process will be in place again this year for our current 6th year students who wish to study Art in college once they leave school - providing them with an amazing opportunity to part fund their third level education going forward.
