6th Years
This month seventy five 6th Years attended the Higher Options in the RDS on Sept 12th where they gathered information on college courses. Ten students attended the Student Summit in the National Show Centre on Sept 10th to research apprenticeship opportunities.
Sixty 6th Years attended a Study Skills seminar in KTCS and gained valuable tips and information for effective study. Ms Urell has started to meet 6th Years for career interviews which focus on targets and progress. All 6th Years have been given handouts on key dates for 2018/2019 and information on studying in the UK.
5th Years
At a 5th Year assembly students have been reminded of the importance of engaging with study from the beginning of the year. While subjects/levels have now been decided, students were reminded of the policy for changing subject/level.
5th Years were given application forms for the Skills at Work programme in conjunction with Kildare Village.
1st Years
All 1st Years have now completed their CAT4 tests and reports, if requested, have been sent home. At a 1st Year Assembly students were introduced to a new study/revision initiative - Engaging with Study to achieve personal best. This was further explained at the Welcome Night for 1st Years and Parents. In SPHE teachers will cover study skills in class to reinforce the initiative.
Study Skills will also be covered for 2nd + 3rd Years this week.
Transition Years
TYs have been given their careers project to do. They attended the Student Summit in National Show Centre on Sept 10th. Although a few years away this was a good opportunity to explore future careers and college options.
Future Plans
An Apprenticeship / Equine event is being planned for November 2018.
Wellbeing training was delivered to 15 students this month. The training was given by a facilitator from Spun Out. The team will decide on a programme of events for students & staff for the coming year.
