College Awareness week in KTCS is part of a nationwide campaign to celebrate going to college and to showcase local role models.
In KTCS on Monday 18-11-2019, two Maynooth Access programme ambassadors gave a presentation to 6th years on the HEAR / DARE access schemes, the benefits, application steps and practical steps to help students with their applications. Both speakers had come through the scheme and gave students real insights into the benefits of these programmes at Maynooth.
College logo of each teacher's alma maters are displayed on classroom doors in KTCS to encourage students to ask teachers about their college experiences at the over 30 colleges represented in the school. This year colleges attended by the school's Special needs assistants are also being displayed.
Information about specific college courses is also being displayed in the school outside the classroom doors and on the corridors. Students are encouraged to read the information and to learn more about college courses related to school subjects in the school.
UCD will visit the school on Thursday to give a presentation to 5th & 6th years on the courses and facilities at the college. Students who are interested must sign in advance in the Guidance lobby.
Waterford IT will give a presentation on 28-11-2019, Carlow College on 05-12-2019 and DCU on 12-11-2019.
